The French
Home Owners Association of Guernsey

For all those interested in the French way of life, French Culture and owning a French property.

The French Home Owners’ Association of Guernsey (FHOAOG) was formed originally back in the 1970’s when purchasing a French home, called a ‘maison secondaire’, first started to grow rapidly in popularity. Since then, changes to the UK’s membership of the European Union and the pandemic have changed our demographic. We have opened our membership to not just holiday home or property owners, but to all those Guernsey residents interested in French culture.

Meetings

Monthly meetings are held from October to March at the Vale Douzaine Room. The programme ranges from quizzes to visiting speakers who can be suggested by members in advance.
Sometimes members can invite a guest to a meeting or to a social event such as a charity evening or a visit to the Guernsey Pentanque Centre.

Member Information

Regular reminders are sent to all members by email. If you are looking for professional advice about any matters in France, neither the French Home Owners’ Association nor its officers are qualified to give advice on Tax or legal matters. Members must consult their own advisers for all such advice.

Only a FULL Member, who has paid a membership fee may vote at meetings and receive member emails.

A PROSPECTIVE member is anyone who would like to join but has not yet paid their membership fee.

Membership Benefits

                   and Learning the Language

Members receive hints, tips or general help on maintaining properties in France.

Fellow members often recommend useful trade contacts and restaurants.

Various methods of improving members’ language skills are offered from time to time.

These include online tuition and tips on useful connections so that members can better enjoy their French experiences.

Why are there no summer meetings?

There is little demand for meetings between April and September. Members enjoy their French homes then!

Members enjoy the many attractions of France all year round and it is relatively easy to hop on the ferry to St Malo at all times of the year to enjoy the French life. However, we can't emphasise enough how the biggest benefit of all is the social aspect and the friends you can make. Our regular French style buffets are very popular.
